Long-Term Consultants was founded by a team of seasoned professionals—Matthew Berger, Angela Umosella, Michael DeSarno, and Melissa Ingram— who all share a personal connection to the long-term care crisis that's unfolding across our country.
Each member of our founding team has watched a love one struggle with realities of aging, illness, or mental health challenges that required long-term care. Those deeply personal experiences revealed a hard truth: too many families and businesses are left unprepared, unsupported and uninformed when it comes to long-term care solutions.
Matthew and Angela, both former executives at a Fortune 500 insurance company, saw firsthand how even the biggest organizations were falling short in addressing this growing crisis. Melissa, a nurse with extensive long-term care and family caregiving, understood the issue from inside the healthcare system. Mike DeSarno, who had built his own successful insurance agency in New Jersey—and had worked with Matt and Angela early in their careers— saw the gap in service for small and mid-sized businesses.
Together, they made a bold move. Matt and Angela left their corporate careers and partnered with Mike to launch Long-Term Consultants; a mission-driven firm focused on providing guaranteed-issue life insurance with long-term care benefits to businesses of all sizes—small, medium, and large. Melissa joined as Director of Benefit Communication, bringing her clinical knowledge, caregiving experience, and unmatched ability to communicate complex topics with compassion and clarity.
We believe access to long-term care coverage shouldn't be a luxury—it's a necessity. We educate brokers, empower businesses, and support individuals with meaningful solutions that offer protection, dignity, and peace of mind. We're also here to help businesses add revenue through strategic benefit offerings and stay ahead of legislation and market changes.
With over a century of combined experience in insurance, healthcare, and communication, our team has partnered with the top insurance and benefits communication firms in the country. Every one of our Benefit Communication Managers come from the nursing field, ensuring that employees do not just get information—they get real, human understanding.
This is more than a benefits firm. It is a movement to fix a broken system—and ensure that every American has access to long-term care solutions, no matter where they work.
We are Long-Term Consultants, and we are here to help.
